Write a book and show what you can do.

The cover is extremely important

The cover is the face of your book. While it's seemingly just a small piece of graphic design, it is the first impression for the potential reader, and should provide a hint as to the mysteries contained within its pages, in order to intrigue and entice them. The average bookshop (including online) browser only takes a few seconds to look at the cover, so it's vital that it grabs their attention, in order for you to see a positive impact on sales.

Ravenstark will work with you, the author, to create an eye-catching design for your book that will encourage potential readers to find out more. If you have an idea, a photo, or a drawing for the design of your cover, we want to see them! We will incorporate your ideas into a distinctive, professional design that will grab the attention of anyone browsing for books in your genre.

If you prefer to leave the design of your book cover up to us, that's not a problem! You can still provide us with input as we go through the creative process. In order to help us determine where to start with the design, we have provided you with some book cover samples below. All you need to do is tell us which ones you like the best. We will then take those ideas and come up with something unique and striking.

Books are mirrors: you only see in them
what you already have inside you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below we have prepared answers to some frequently asked questions. If you do not find the answer to your question here, please contact us directly. We will be pleased to answer any question you may have.

1. Ravenstark – Who are we?
Ravenstark is the technical expertise behind your book. Working with us, you can publish a printed book and/or a book in electronic form (eBook). We consist of a team of people with extensive experience in the production of printed materials, consisting of graphic designers and editors, which will facilitate the successful completion of your project, i.e. to obtain a product of the highest quality, both in terms of editorial and printing quality. The knowledge and experience of our team can protect you against serious failure, i.e. we can prevent the release of a book with poor editorial quality, full of errors, badly designed, or with an unimaginative cover. Only professionally issued publications have a chance to find a place on the market. Remember that booksellers, in part because of limited retail space, usually only take those books that show some promise of appeal to buyers. Therefore, they won't take low-quality goods, which at first glance reek of amateurism and unprofessional design. Publishing a book is a seemingly simple task that can, unfortunately, be done poorly due to lack of experience, therefore jeopardizing its chance of success. It is worth considering, therefore, how you, as an author, expend your own time and energy, and reflect on where you should direct your focus, and when to entrust the services of a well-chosen partner. At Ravenstark, we know how to publish books, and it is our pleasure to share with you our expertise. Books are our passion, and we believe they are also yours.
2. What is Self-publishing?
Self-publishing is the best way for an author to release their own work. It is the publication of the author's own book without the involvement of a traditional publisher. By financing their own publication, the author is in control of the entire process at each stage of production, they maintain full ownership of copyright, and they receive all income resulting from the sale of their book. This is a fantastic, innovative method of publishing your own work. Today, thanks to the development of digital printing technology, reduced production costs, and the simplification of distribution (in terms of eBooks), publishing a book has become a reality for everyone. So, become your own publisher. Control the whole process and reap all the financial rewards. By partnering with Ravenstark, you can fulfill your dreams and publish a book, both on paper and in eBook format.
3. What conditions must be met
to publish a book with Ravenstark?
The most obvious condition is to either write a book or to own the copyrights to a book. It will also be necessary to obtain a positive editorial assessment of the work, and to pay a fee based on the chosen publishing package or custom quotation by Ravenstark.
4. Who is the copyright holder of books
published by Ravenstark?

Following the publication of a book with Ravenstark, the copyright status of the work does not change. The author retains the copyrights for their book.
5. What is an ISBN number?
ISBN stands for International Standard Book Number. It is a 13-digit number that uniquely identifies a book. Ravenstark assigns every book they publish an ISBN number. If you want to sell your book in bookshops or via online retailers like Amazon.com, you will need an ISBN.
6. How do I prepare my files
and text for publication?

Files should be sent in DOC, DOCX or ODT format. Files should be prepared in the following manner:
  1. All pages of the manuscript should be saved in one file.
  2. The text should be justified, or aligned to both margins, and include the cover and all the pages.
  3. Photos and graphics should be a large size and have a resolution of 300 dpi. Do not paste photographs into a text file. Always attach separately.
  4. You should review the text and display the formatting marks (¶ symbol), to eliminate basic editing errors, and pay attention to the following points:
    • within a paragraph the text should NOT be carried over to the next line by pressing the ENTER key, the ENTER key should only be used at the end of the paragraph;
    • paragraph indents should NOT be created by using the spacebar or the tab key, but rather by using the paragraph formatting in Word;
    • the end of a chapter should be created by inserting a page break (CTRL + ENTER);
    • hyphenation in Word should be set to automatic, NOT manual;
    • you should distinguish between hyphens (-) and em dashes (–);
    • you should eliminate unnecessary spaces (double or multiple).
7. Should I edit my book myself?
Your manuscript should be edited prior to submitting it to Ravenstark. It is worthwhile, at this stage, to enlist the help of others whose different perspective will help you find and eliminate any errors you might have missed.
8. How long will the publishing process take?
Your book will be published only after you give approval of all the materials. If the manuscript is well-prepared, the editorial process will be shortened, thereby speeding up the process of publication, which takes on average 6 weeks, including printing. Once you give your final approval for printing, the deadline for delivery of the finished book is 11 working days. It is important to note: once you have received your delivery, you will be responsible for providing your National Library with a copy of your published book. In the UK please refer to the British Library's website, and the section about Legal Deposit.
9. How can I sell my book?
You have full ownership of your book, and it can be released to the market for sale under general conditions. Your book can be distributed independently by you, through Ravenstark, or through another selected distributor. An alternative and attractive way of selling your book is through online distribution, as an eBook, offering a very wide circle of readers.
10. Who sets the price for my book?
You determine the selling price for your book.

If there's a book that you really want to read,
but it hasn't been written yet,
then you have to write it yourself.
